First community college in the U.S. to offer AI program

Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas (U.S.) will offer the first course in it’s new AI Level 1 Certificate program. “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence,”  taught by Computer Science professor Dr. Phillip Davis, is one of five courses in the Certificate program.

The AI Certificate program is supported by the AI2ES Institute with funding and collaboration. Dr. Davis is a member of the AI2ES senior leadership team. 

Our new program and this course incorporate state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into applied information technologies, such as Geographical Information Systems, and are the first of their kind in the nation. Del Mar College is the only two-year community college partner that is a member of the National Science Foundation’s 2020 investment in AI Institutes nationwide.

The AI Certificate  will train Geographic Information Systems technicians to apply AI to geospatial applications.
